This Legislative Session: Now More Than Ever, We Must Take Bold Climate Action!

The Trump administration has taken steps to roll back critical environmental protections—pulling out of the Paris Climate Accord and revoking policies aimed at tackling climate change. With federal leadership failing us, Connecticut must step up as a strong, unwavering force in the fight for a livable planet.

 

That’s why environmental and social justice organizations across the state are coming together for Connecticut Climate Lobby Day on March 3, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at the Legislative Office Building. This year, we need to send a loud and clear message to all legislators and the Governor: Connecticut needs to stand up strong for a livable planet and safe, healthy communities!

 

We’ll be advocating for bold climate legislation that:
✅ Reduces climate pollution
✅ Prioritizes clean energy solutions
✅ Advances environmental justice
✅ Creates good, green jobs for Connecticut workers

What Has Sierra Club CT Been Up To At the State Capitol?

It’s been a packed 2025 Legislative Session! Here’s how we’ve been showing up for climate action and environmental protection:

 

🌱 Testifying & Advocacy: We’ve been present at 6+ public hearings and submitted over 15 testimonies on critical bills, including those addressing social and environmental justice, clean energy, PFAS contamination, waste reduction, the Environmental Rights Amendment, transportation, and more. We’ve activated our members who are showing up and testifying with their own personal stories and researched testimonies.

 

📢 Engaging the Community: We’ve hosted key events, including testimony training sessions, Wildlife & Toxics Lobby Day, and committee meeting gatherings to mobilize support for strong environmental policies.
