The environmental crises we face – air pollution, climate change and biodiversity loss – are existential. At the federal level, environmental protections are being gutted. At the state level, there are troubling developments. Protecting people and the planet has never been more important. Becoming a member – or renewing your membership – in the Sierra Club matters. Join or renew today to sustain our work to protect wildlife and wild places, ensure clean air and water, and fight for environmental justice.

At the federal level, Sierra Club is defending against Trump’s environmental rollbacks of decades of progress. Last month, we joined the first environmental lawsuit against Donald Trump over his illegal order to undo ocean protections from offshore drilling. We’re also challenging Trump’s attempt to “terminate” New York’s Congestion Pricing Program, which successfully launched earlier this year. We brought a major case against Elon Musk’s DOGE for the illegal firing of federal workers at the National Parks Service, U.S. Forest Service, and other agencies to ensure the public’s ability to safely and freely access public lands and waters. We will continue defending our progress against continued attacks by Trump and his allies.

In March, Trump’s EPA made a sweeping announcement to roll back 31 public health and environmental protections, including pollution standards for methane, cars and trucks, power plants, and factories. This wholesale attack on the EPA – from inside the EPA – was outlined in Project 2025 and foreshadowed in Trump’s Day 1 executive orders. Zeldin’s announcement last week wasn’t anything new, but it has reminded us of our need to remain vigilant for when the Administration attempts to put its plans into action. This announcement came amid the devastating news that EPA would shutter all of its Environmental Justice offices and now today’s news of plans to eliminate EPA’s scientific research arm.

At the state level, while we push for climate and environmental progress in the legislature, it was reported that Governor Lamont is working with the Trump Administration to construct more dirty, unhealthy gas pipelines through our state. This news is a stark contrast from Governor Lamont’s promises to protect the climate and champion renewable energy. Sierra Club has been mobilizing against several gas expansion proposals in Connecticut including expansion of the Brookfield compressor station, expansion of the Enbridge pipeline, and new gas boilers at the Capitol Area System. We will fight tooth and nail against further expansion.

Your support as a member is put to work day-in and day-out to protect against these threats to our climate, air, water, and land, and to promote healthy, safe, and sustainable solutions. Our campaigns build over weeks, months, and even years which is why your continued membership matters.

Please renew or join as a member today.
