Meet Our Groups
Sierra Club groups engage in conservation advocacy, public education and engagement. Sierra Club Connecticut has two local groups, each led by a volunteer Executive Committee. Attend a local group meeting to meet other Sierra Club members and to find out what’s happening in your area!
Greater Hartford Group
The Greater Hartford Group encompasses Hartford, Tolland and Windham Counties. The group meets monthly on the second Thursday of the month (September through May) at 7:30 pm at Westmoor Park in West Hartford. It also holds an annual picnic in June. Meetings feature a speaker. For example, presentations in 2018 covered topics ranging from electric vehicles and the State Water Plan, to traveling in the Dolomite Mountain range. For more information, contact Group Chair, Rick Haeseler at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Shoreline Group
The Shoreline Group is comprised of volunteers from the towns of Branford, Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Essex, Guilford, Killingworth, Madison, North Branford, Old Saybrook and Westbrook. The group meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm. Contact Jody Kaplan at email@example.com for more information about meetings and the environmental issues the group is working to address at Connecticut’s shoreline.
In the past, Sierra Club Connecticut had other groups based on counties and/or other specific geography. These were the New Haven Group, Southeastern Group, Fairfield County Group, Housatonic Valley Group, Eastern Fairfield County and South Central County Group. Sierra Club Connecticut is considering dissolving these inactive groups at the February 27, 2019 meeting of the Executive Committee. Dissolving inactive groups will ensure the national database lists our active groups for members. If you are interested in learning more or wish to ask the Chapter to reconsider this decision please contact us no later than February 13, 2019. You may contact Ann Gadwah at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any further questions.
